Village of Oakwood Hills Board of Trustees met July 16.
Here is the minutes as provided by the board:
I. Call to Order: Village President Smith called the meeting to order at 5:00pm
II. Roll Call: Village Clerk LoSasso conducted a roll call at this time. Present were as follows: Village President Smith, Trustees Rider, Wise, Zahorik and Salvo. Also present were Attorney Waggoner and Chief Nash. Trustee Ruhnke was absent.
III. Pledge of Allegiance: The Pledge of Allegiance was administered at this time.
IV. Moment of Reflection
V. Public Forum: Susan Cole asked about pothole repair. President Smith stated repairs to be done by Nunda Township and they are behind schedule due to the recent rains. We are second on the list following the townships. She also expressed her concerns about the overgrowth of landscape. President Smith stated per village ordinance, it is the homeowner’s responsibility and warnings/citations are being issued. If it is a hazard the village maintenance person is taking care of it. Ms. Cole offered to do her part to volunteer to help. Trustee Salvo mentioned a volunteer trimmed landscape at the beaches, Trustee Wise stated village landscaper is also behind schedule and under staffed. Asked for a list of areas in need and safety issues will be addressed first.
VI. Motion to Approve hiring William McKorkle as a full time Lieutenant.
Motion: Trustee Rider
Second: Trustee Zahorik
Discussion: Interviewed at committee. Chief Nash summarized his extensive training history in policing. Unanimously voted at committee level.
Roll Vote: Ayes Trustees Rider, Zahorik, Wise, Salvo
Absent: Trustee Ruhnke
Motion Carried.
Oath of Office was administered at this time.
VII. Motion to Consider recommendation to terminate Officer Marco LaPuma
This motion was tabled as the Village received a resignation letter from Mr. LaPuma.
