City of Crystal Lake issued the following announcement on Dec. 9.
Crystal Lake’s manufacturing community is on a steady growth path and a key contributor of manufacturing jobs in McHenry County. Companies such as Camfil, Autotrol, and Chicago Plastic Systems have recently expanded their operations in the community. Crystal Lake is ideally situated, offers a business friendly environment, and provides top-rated schools, which is crucial for employee retention and attraction. Earlier this month Chicago Plastic Systems and Autotrol were recognized by McHenry County Economic Development Corporation for being 2019 Business Champion Finalists recognizing them for their strong vision, solid long range business strategy, and best practices. Camfil was chosen as the 2019 McHenry County Business Champion for employers greater than 300. The reinvestment efforts of these existing manufacturers strengthen and stabilize our community bringing more jobs and investments.

Camfil, 500 S. Main Street, is a worldwide leading manufacturer of premium air filters for commercial and industrial systems for air filtration and air pollution control with 28 manufacturing plants globally. The Crystal Lake facility currently produces 26 million in product and anticipates producing 60 million after the renovation is complete. The Crystal Lake facility is the only facility in the Americas that produces all their 5-star products under one roof. As a showcase facility, they bring in customers from across the Americas to tour the facility and witness how the premium products are produced. Recently, Camfil invested $13 million in a facility expansion and equipment in Crystal Lake. This included the addition of a 50,000 sq. ft. building onto an existing 110,000 sq. ft. facility. Camfil is in the process of adding 6 new product lines and anticipates tripling their annual revenues over the next five years along with hiring 90 new employees.
Autotrol:
Autotrol Corporation, 365 Prairie Street, has merged with Kinetic Ceramics, a precision technology company that manufactures next-generation industrial hardware and fluid control systems. The new company is relocating their New Jersey operations to the Crystal Lake facility. They have begun the hiring process for ten (10) new employees and are working with McHenry County to utilize grants and services for incumbent workers and on the job training programs to prepare existing employees for production changes.
Chicago Plastic Systems:
Chicago Plastic Systems, 161 S. Virginia Road, recently relocated and expanded their plastic fabrication in this location and currently house the largest specialty welder in the region to serve their customers for metal finishing, power generation, chemical process, water and wastewater projects throughout the United States.
