Congressional candidate Ted Gradel (R-Naperville) argues that U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood’s (D-Naperville) vote in favor of impeaching President Donald J. Trump is further evidence that the people of the 14th District have ceased to be her main priority.

“Once again Lauren Underwood has put the agenda of Nancy Pelosi and her socialist allies before the interests of the American people,” Gradel said in a statement. “With less than a year until the next election, Underwood continues to undermine the Democratic process with a partisan impeachment.”

Gradel, who is challenging Underwood in the 2020 general election, made his comments after Democrats moved to formally impeach the president on articles alleging abuse of power and obstructing Congress.

“It is time for Underwood, Pelosi, AOC (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez) and the entire liberal establishment to stop this political theater and get back to work for the American people,” Gradel said. “Since they’ve taken control of Congress, the Democrats have done nothing but further the political divide.”

A business leader, coach and former football star at Notre Dame under legendary coach Lou Holtz, Gradel vows to make better use of his time in Washington than his opponent has.

“I'll fight every day to protect our freedoms and promote the values that make America the greatest country on earth,” he said.

Earlier this year, Gradel was named an “On the Radar” candidate in Illinois' 14th Congressional District by the National Republican Congressional Committee as part of their 2020 Young Guns program. Since launching his campaign, Gradel leads all 14th District Republican candidates in fundraising from individual donors.
