Huntley Community School District 158 issued the following announcement on Feb. 20.
Huntley High School is featured as the top high school softball team in Illinois in a feature list compiled by MaxPreps, the country’s top media organization devoted to high school sports.
“The Top High School Team in Each State” feature highlights 43 of the country’s best ball teams, excluding states that either do not sanction high school softball or whose season is in the fall.
The profile for HHS cites junior Briana Bower, one of the country’s top high school pitchers, as an anchor of the team’s success.
“Junior pitcher Briana Bower struck out the last batter as Huntley defeated St. Charles East last spring to win the school’s first state title. Bower, a Mississippi State commit, is back after a 27-5 sophomore season and a 1.06 ERA,” the profile reads.
