Former McHenry County Clerk Mary McClellan's campaign for county judge may be impacted by a U.S. Equal Opportunity Employment Commission's investigation, according to  Illinois Leaks.

In 2016, a former employee filed a complaint against the clerk's office and McClellan's husband, Ed Gil, who worked in her office, alleging discrimination and sexual harassment.

The U.S. EEOC investigation “..determined that the evidence obtained during the course of the investigation establishes reasonable cause to believe that Respondent discriminated against Charging Party, because of her sex, female, by subjecting her to sexual harassment and retaliating against her for engaging in protected activity, by discharging her, in violation  of Title VII.”
