Mary McClellan, former McHenry County clerk and current McHenry County Circuit Court judicial candidate, recently had her Federal "341" meeting of creditors in her bankruptcy case.

At this meeting, the bankruptcy trustee and creditors get to ask questions of the bankruptcy filer about their petition.

According to Illinois Leaks, she was asked about her home in Holiday Hills and stated that she had lived there for more than two decades. She listed the value of her home as less than $100,000, noting that a home across the street was valued at $96,000 but had not sold after a year on the market.

McClellan said she lived alone, that she was legally separated from her husband Edward Gil. No paperwork has been found in court filings to indicate this legal separation.

She also told about the home in Florida that she owned with Gil, saying it was recently appraised for $84,900.

This is not the first time McClellan has filed for bankruptcy; she most recently filed Chapter 7 in 2009.

She reported that her last check came from McHenry County in 2018. She did not have any additional income until March. Because she was an elected official, she was not eligible to receive unemployment benefits.

She is now associated with the Chicago firm Patton and Ryan LLC.

No creditors were present at the hearing.

The recording of the hearing can be found here.
