Harvard FPD responds to 43 fires in 2018

Harvard Fire Protection Department responded to 89 calls in 2018 - 28.8 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Harvard included 43 fires - 16 structure fires, two vehicle fires and 25 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $127,500 in fire loss - or about $2,965 per fire.

The department also received 45 false calls.

The Harvard Fire Protection Department had an annual budget of $1,531,175 in 2018.
