Crystal Lake Community Consolidated School District 47 issued the following announcement on Nov. 13.
This week our schools did a wonderful job highlighting Veterans Day virtually. For a recap, check out our most recent D47in47 video. The video is included in the fall issue of District 47’s newsletter “The Communicator,” which has now posted to the website and can also be accessed here. As we move forward, please see below for some important information related to COVID-19 and the approaching holidays and winter season.
COVID-19 AND REMOTE LEARNING
Notifications
When the entire district is in remote learning, parents/guardians will no longer receive emails when there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 at their child’s school. However, we are still tracking this information for both staff and students and will post this information weekly to our COVID-19 dashboard. Please continue to let the school know if your student has symptoms, tests positive for COVID or is identified as a close contact as this will help ensure accurate data and assist with the safe return to in-person instruction.
Contact Tracing
Contact tracing is critical to curbing the spread of COVID-19 in our community. Should you or a family member test positive for COVID-19, please respond to calls from the school district or county health department. To learn more about contact tracing, visit the McHenry County Health Department’s website.
Food Distribution
During remote learning, food distribution will occur weekly on Tuesdays from 3pm to 6pm at Hannah Beardsley Middle School (515 E. Crystal Lake Ave.) and Glacier Ridge Elementary School (1120 Village Rd.). The distribution is done as a “drive-through” where families can receive free breakfasts and lunches for the week for their child(ren) during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tech Support
During remote learning, tech support will be available at all D47 schools. You may also contact tech support by email at techsupport@d47.org or by phone at 815-788-5060.
ELEARNING (VS. REMOTE LEARNING) FOR SNOW/EMERGENCY DAYS
Many school districts have adopted eLearning plans to engage students in learning at home on days when schools may be closed due to inclement weather. ELearning is different from remote learning: Approved eLearning plans are only to be used for emergency/snow days whereas remote learning is specific to our current instructional model as a result of the pandemic.
District 47’s eLearning plan will be addressed at the Board of Education meeting on Monday, November 16 and will be posted to the District 47 website (see the Board of Ed tab/Board Meeting Agendas and Minutes).
With the holidays approaching and the health metrics continuing to rise, we ask our families to continue to follow social distancing protocols, adhere to group gathering guidelines and wear face coverings when in public. In order to return to our hybrid learning model as soon as possible, we need everyone to do their part to prevent community spread of this virus. We will provide an update on our learning model status by Monday, November 23.
Sincerely,
Kathy J. Hinz
Superintendent
