HUNTLEY COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT 158: Chesak Student Creates Ornaments to Support RMHC

Christmas4

Huntley Community School District 158 issued the following announcement on Dec. 15.

As a way to give back to and thank an organization that helped his family in a time of need, kindergarten student Matthew Underwood (5), with the help and support of his family, has worked tirelessly to make and deliver ornaments in exchange for donations of money, pop can tabs and wishlist items to support Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Matthew set an initial goal of $500, which was reached quickly. A new goal of $2,500 was set, and as of last week were very close to achieving it. The Underwood family will be collecting donations through December 18, when they will be delivering their total to RMHC.

The ornaments have been made and delivered safely in keeping with public health guidelines. In recent days, Matthew has delivered ornaments to a number of classmates and staff members at Chesak, among others.

“This young man has such a loving and giving spirit,” said Mary Reilly, Matthew’s kindergarten teacher.

Donations are still being accepted. If interested in donating to “Matthew and Ethan’s Create Holiday Magic” for Ronald McDonald House Charities fundraiser, contact Star Underwood at stagwood27@yahoo.com or (847) 863-8225.
