Crystal Lake Community Consolidated School District 47 recently issued the following announcement.

This week we began our return to hybrid learning. On Monday, we welcomed our preschool through second grade students and our students in special education back to our schools for in-person instruction while remote learning continued. It was wonderful to see students back in our school buildings! See the links at the end of this email for a few short videos with highlights from the week.

UPDATES AND REMINDERS

For ALL District 47 families:

  • Tomorrow (Friday, January 15) is Teacher Institute Day and Monday, January 18 is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. There will be no school tomorrow or Monday.
  • The D47 COVID-19 family reference guide has been updated to include an expectations page for remote learning families. We encourage all parents to review this guide, which provides an overview of D47's COVID-19 health and safety protocols and procedures. The guide can be found in English and Spanish on the District 47 website.
  • The second trimester ends February 26, 2021. There will be another enrollment period for Trimester 3. Please stay tuned for information about this in the next few weeks.
  • The District 47 website will have a new look and feel starting Tuesday, January 19th. We hope you will find the new design engaging and easy to navigate. We will eventually be extending this new look and feel to our school websites, too. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please email webmaster@d47.org
For families of students attending in-person instruction:

  • We'd like to remind parents / guardians to please wear a face mask and to practice social distancing when dropping off or picking up students at school.
  • If a teacher or staff member is exposed to COVID-19 and needs to quarantine at home and teach virtually, it's likely that the teacher's family members (spouse, children) will also be quarantined at home. Given this, it may be challenging at times for the teacher to provide a distraction-free environment. We appreciate your understanding. Rest assured, the teacher's priority is and always will be the students, classroom and instruction.
In closing, we have all been impacted by the events in Washington, DC, over the past week and we realize many of our students may have watched news stories, seen social media posts, and / or heard discussions about these events that may be sparking questions and conversations in some of your households. The links below were provided to our staff last week to help them facilitate dialog and respond appropriately should students express concerns or ask questions. We thought, perhaps, our families might find them of interest, too.
