Marengo Community High School District 154 issued the following announcement on Jan 19.
On Monday, January 18, 2021, the Marengo Police Department received multiple calls regarding a reported post on a social media platform that there was a possible threat directed towards Marengo Community High School. Marengo Police were able to quickly identify and locate the alleged source of the social media post. The alleged offender was subsequently arrested and transported to Marengo Police Department for processing, and ultimately transported to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center pending a detention hearing.
Marengo Community High School and the Marengo Police Department take threats such as this very seriously. The Marengo Police Department was in direct communication with MCHS administration and believes that no threat to the public or school exists at this time. Extra patrol and security will be provided around the school. Marengo Community High School wishes to thank the Marengo Police Department and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department for their swift action and continued service to Marengo Community High School and the Marengo community.
