CRYSTAL LAKE COMMUNITY CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT 47: Trimester 3 Learning Model Preference

Online

Crystal Lake Community Consolidated School District 47 recently issued the following announcement.

The third and final trimester of the 2020-21 school year begins Monday, March 1. District 47 will continue with the current hybrid learning model (offering both remote learning and in-person learning) for Trimester 3. Please note the following:

  • If you intend to stay with your child’s current learning model for the third trimester, NO ACTION IS REQUIRED.
  • If you wish to indicate a different preference for your child(ren)’s third trimester learning model, you will need to LOG INTO PARENTVUE by 5pm CST on Fri., Feb. 5th. The ParentVue survey window is now open. See below for instructions and frequently asked questions (FAQs). If you need help logging in, please contact your child’s school or hd@d47.org.
Parent FAQs

Will schools still be able to provide six feet of social distancing between students in classrooms during the third trimester? Given that D47 staff will have had an opportunity to be vaccinated and that COVID-19 health metrics continue to improve, we anticipate there may be an increase in the number of families who wish to send their children back to school for in-person learning during the third trimester. It is our goal to accommodate these requests and bring as many students as possible back to our schools. Additionally, we anticipate new guidance from IDPH now that the vaccine has become available to staff. The district would look to adjust our practices to accommodate any new guidelines to the greatest extent possible.

Will I receive an email confirmation after indicating my preference for a learning model change in ParentVue? Yes. Once you‘ve completed the learning model preference process in ParentVue, you will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours. If learning model preferences are made for more than one child at the same time, you will receive only one email. If this is done at different times, you will receive multiple emails.

Do I need to submit a learning model preference change for each child? Yes. If you have multiple children and want them all to have a different learning model, you will need to submit a preference change in ParentVue for each child.

If I log into ParentVue and request a change to my child’s learning model, will this guarantee placement for my child? Due to the seating capacity in our schools and the need to balance remote class sizes, indicating preference for a change does NOT guarantee placement. Once learning model change requests have been submitted and reviewed, they will be matched up with current learning model vacancies (remote and in-person) at each school.

I requested a learning model change earlier this year and am currently on a waitlist. Will my request be prioritized over new Trimester 3 preferences? Yes. We are tracking these learning model change requests and will accommodate those on our waitlist first.

Will my child’s teacher and/or bus route change if there is a change in learning model? If we are able to accommodate your learning model preference, your child’s teacher, bus route and/or school (remote learning classrooms only) may change.

I’d like to move my child to in-person instruction for the third trimester but my child will need bus transportation. Will transportation be provided? Transportation will be provided if your child meets eligibility requirements (living 1.5 miles or more from school) and if there is available seating on a route. You will be able to indicate your need for transportation once a move to in-person instruction has been confirmed.
