McHENRY COUNTY: County holding virtual COVID-19 vaccine town hall meeting

Meet

McHenry County issued the following announcement on Feb 2.

McHenry County officials and the McHenry County Department of Health will hold a virtual town hall meeting for citizens to get their questions answered about the county’s rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The town hall meeting, which will feature County Board Chairman Mike Buehler, Public Health Administrator Melissa Adamson, Director of Nursing Susan Karras, and Public Health and Community Services Committee Chairwoman Lori Parrish, will be streamed on Facebook Live from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9.

“The people of McHenry County have questions regarding our vaccination plan, and we want to provide them with the latest information,” Buehler, R-Crystal Lake, said. “We’re doing the best we can, as one government of many thousands embarking on an unprecedented national and worldwide effort, to get the COVID-19 vaccine distributed as quickly as possible.”

The meeting will be streamed on the Facebook pages of McHenry County government (facebook.com/McHenryCountyGov) and the MCDH (facebook.com/McHenryCoHealth). While viewers can submit questions via live chat, they are encouraged to submit them in advance by email to QA@mchenrycountyil.gov by 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5.

McHenry County has just entered Phase 1b of the state vaccination plan – it has begun to inoculate seniors age 65 and older, and plans later this month to expand vaccinations to teachers and other school personnel as an important step toward protecting educators and children as schools reopen for in-person learning.

Plans are dependent upon availability of the COVID-19 vaccine from state and federal sources, and the county and the MCDH would like to thank the citizens for their continued patience and understanding.
