HUNTLEY COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT 158: HHS Presents “Songs for a New World” Musical via Live Stream April 15-17

Child music(1000)

Huntley Community School District 158 issued the following announcement on Apr 14.

Not even COVID-19 can put a damper on the spirits of Huntley High School’s musical theatre performers! And although the traditional style of musical theatre is not possible, students have been hard at work preparing for live-streamed performances of Jason Robert Brown’s “Songs for a New World.”

Similar to what we are all currently experiencing, Brown explained “Songs for a New World” fittingly shares an overall theme of life being “about one moment. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back.”

Directed by Lexy Bieber, “Songs for a New World” features a cast of 18 students exploring, in the span of several small musical vignettes, all the emotions that people go through in one defining moment after another defining moment.

One thing’s for sure, the rules of yesterday don’t apply today, and as a way of adapting to change, Nathan Knapke, Technical Director for the District 158 Performing Arts Center and HHS Tech Crew members have been hard at work to make theatre possible, not only for students, but for the community as well, through live-streamed performances. And the technical aspects of this show will wow you!

Free LIVE stream performances will be held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, April 15-17 at 7:00 pm. Tickets are available at d158.ticketleap.com/songs-livestream/.

For more information please contact Lorie Woods, Director of Huntley District 158 Performing Arts Center at (847) 659-6107.
