Fox Lake, IL… State Representative Tom Weber (R- Fox Lake), in partnership with the Village of Fox Lake, is hosting a much needed blood drive in June.
“The weather is warming up and that also means that blood donations are once again sorely needed. Unfortunately, the number of donors drops in the summer just as the number of injuries rises with people getting out more,” Rep. Weber explained. “Not enough people realize that it can help save up to three lives; it is easily the most impactful thing you could do with just an hour of your time.” Every 2 seconds in the US someone needs blood, but only 10% of people donate annually.
The drive will take place on Wednesday, June 9th from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Lakefront Park Building in Fox Lake. Walk-ins are welcome, but as a COVID-19 precaution and to save time, making an appointment is strongly preferred. Blood donors will receive a free COVID-19 anti-body screening.
Interested blood donors can make an appointment to donate by visiting: Donateblood.lifesource.org and entering group search code 520D. Anyone with questions can contact Rep. Weber’s office at (847) 629-5439.
