Sen. Craig Wilcox (R-McHenry) took to Facebook to express his pride over a group of McHenry veterans who represented the region's veterans at the centennial ceremony of The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a monument at the Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia that honors service members whose remains have gone unidentified.

"So amazing to see McHenry City Combined Veterans (VFW, Amer Legion, Polish Legion AV, all from McHenry, IL) representing at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers, 100th Anniversary. Ronnie Reber, Gary Snell, Bob Prusko and Lockers Flowers showing our patriotism," Wilcox said in a Facebook post. "So proud of you all, and all veterans from the area!"

In other actions, in September, Wilcox hosted a pet adoption event with Sen. Don DeWitte (R-West Dundee) at the Huntley Animal House Shelter, according to the Lake County Gazette.

"Senator (Don) DeWitte and I are partnering for a two-day pet adoption event,” Wilcox posted on Facebook, according to the Lake County Gazette. “Pet adoption specialists from the Huntley Animal House Shelter will join us and help connect pets with their new forever homes.”

He also took Gov. J.B. Pritzker to task for the recently-passed energy package, saying that Pritzker sold out for a "feel-good law," according to the Lake County Gazette.

“This will affect Illinois in many negative ways,” Wilcox said, according to the Lake County Gazette. “First off, we’re going to continue to overpay for renewable energy, and we’ll be paying it out early instead of over an extended period. The truth is he sold energy reliability for a feel-good law. He sold out the people of Illinois for a feel-good law. This means we will have higher rates for people that can least afford it. The governor decided early on that the green energy side was his primary stakeholder.”

Wilcox has also urged parents to call for local control regarding mask mandates in schools, according to the Lake County Gazette.
