Assistant Director of Transportation Hennings then recognized Senior Transportation Planner Ryan Peterson as the MCDOT's second Employee of the Quarter.

B. Awards

Assistant County Engineer Kuntz announced two (2) awards the DOT is in line to receive for the Randall Road project that was completed in September 2021.

The DOT received the Honor Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), which has the potential to move on to National award recognition.

DOT is also set to receive an award from the American Public Works Association (APWA). The awarding was set to take place next week but has been rescheduled to late February or early March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

8. OLD BUSINESS

A. Staff Report

Senior Transportation Planner Ryan Peterson provided an update on the MCRide program.

In 2021, the ridership was just under 90,000 riders for the year- which was still under pre-pandemic figures but was also a major increase since 2020. 63% of the rides taken were by older adults and individuals with disabilities and there was a total of 513,000 miles traveled on MCRide buses.

In the first three (3) months of operation in partnership with McHenry County College, which allows MCC students and staff to ride for free to and from campus, the MCRide Program saved those riders up to $1,200 in fares.

On the first Thursday in February, there will be a Public Transportation Advisory Committee meeting. It will be a roundtable discussion focused on how to better serve older adults in McHenry County.
