City of McHenry Landmark Commission met April 6.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Green Street Project:

Jeff Varda and Zelinda Paluch continued the project pertaining to the History of the Hidden Pearl Cafe. Jeff and Zelinda gave recognition to the lady who assisted them with this project at the McHenry County Historical Society. Landmark Commission members will continue this project which will be due June 7, 2022. Walking and driving tours of West McHenry and Riverside Drive another idea was suggested.

New Business:

Pam Kellog presented an informative look into the History of the "Hanly Brick Building." It was a great source of information.

Members of the Landmark Commission will meet at the Hanly Building for a tour on April 11, 2022 at 4pm.

Jeff Varda read the standards for plaquing the Hanly building.

Beth Staley made the motion and Mary Kay Welter seconded it.

Peterson Park

Beth Staley spoke about the Garden Club and the activities they would possibly be doing at Peterson Park. Jeff Varda and Mary Kay Welter spoke about Sheep herding

Zelinda and Celeste will be visiting the residence presenting a program about the Landmark Commission. April 19, 2022 at 2 p.m.

Grace Wisniewski presented her engraving plans, material and

location on the Colby Petersen Farm Project.

Celeste Heidemann wanted the members to be aware that the City of McHenry was going to remove the Mayor Donald P. Doherty sign on Green and Pearl Street for no reason. We would like to keep it in place Mr. Doherty has done a lot for this community.
