Communications, Public Relations, and Rules Review

This matter was tabled until the next meeting.

Review the Sign Ordinance

The Committee reviewed section 14.04 C of the sign ordinance as it relates to the 12-inch overhang. The committee felt that this should be changed because every time it appears before the City Council a variation is granted. There was a consensus that the overhanging signs and awnings should be six feet. Motion made by Alderman Carncross to change this requirement to read 6ft seconded by Alderman Perkins. All ayes motion passed. The committee also felt that this entire ordinance needs to be modernized and a further review should take place in the future.

Amend Section 15.14, Metra Park Lot, Overflow Parking

Finance Director Bejot brought up a conflict in the code as it relates to overflow parking in the METRA lot. There is a section of parking for overflow adjacent to 201 West Front Street and seeing how the City does not own the building anymore we should not have that designation anymore. The committee agreed. Motion made by Alderman Perkins to eliminate section 15.14/4b from the municipal code, seconded by Alderman Carncross all ayes motion passed.
