City of McHenry Landmark Commission met June 7.

Petersen Farm Project 

National Registry Plaque 

Michelle Peterson and Beth Staley preparing the garden at the farm 

Beth Staly is waiting for the City to move the boulder rock which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in March 2020. 

Tim Adams from Adams Memorial assisted in finding the Boulder, they will be plaquing it and placing it  under the flagpole at Petersen Park. 

The cost is $500. Zelinda Paluch also was in attendance. 

Art in the Park 

Pamphlet participation will be needed passing out at the band concerts and Fiesta Days.  Jeff Varda offered a tent for the day. Jeff will also send a notice out to all of us to assist in handing out  pamphlets addressing the Landmark Commission and Historical Society.  

School Presentations 

Jeff Varda went to Mrs. Mauer Class from Parkland and also visited East Campus Andrew Stegenga  freshman class. The students gave a formative assessment that Jeff shared with us, 

New Business  

Hanley Mill Plaque 

Pam Kellogg read her presentation on the writing that will be written on the  plaque at the Hanley Mill. 

Facade Improvement Grant Application from McHenry Power Equipment 

Greg Lofgren try to locate the grant application at Petersen Farm 

The Count's House 

National Registry Plaque at 3803 Waukegan Rd. McHenry 

Spoke about locating the owner as the appearance of the residence is needed. Monte Johnson will contact Jake Marino Resource Community Development . 

Pam Kellogg and Jennifer Lonchar offered to assist 

Friends of McHenry 

Pam Kellogg will be on her social media website to pass on to people to gain some interest in Landmark and Historical Societies. 

Betty Sowinski stated,"focus on what we are looking for. Possibly a survey."
