The Woodstock city council recently celebrated the opening of a roundabout that was constructed at the intersection of Lake Avenue, Madison Street, and South Street to allow for better traffic flow.

As discussed at the Dec. 6 council meeting, the major roadway renovation project began construction in early spring of 2022 with an expected completion date of Dec. 1. However, the project was completed and opened early just before Thanksgiving in time for holiday traffic.

Great job by everybody, everybody involved with that,” Mayor Michael Turner said at the meeting. “So I'm very proud of what you did.”

Council members praised how good the roundabout looked and how much the residents like it, joking that they were driving that way just to drive around it once or twice.

They also thanked everyone on the council, in public works, and the administration for their work on the project.

“I would like to just give a public thank you to some of the people that were heavily involved in the construction of the roundabout,” Danielle Gulli, executive director of Business Development, said at the meeting. “So first, I'd like to start with our design consultants and our engineers from HLR. Jeff Garth, Randy Newkirk and Dan Sherman from HLR were instrumental in getting that project open; our general contractors, Brian Burke and Steve Linden from H. Linden and Sons and then from our own staff, Chris Tiedt, our city engineer, Brent Aymond, and Michael Rousey from Public Works in our water utility team. Tim Hickey from Engineering doing a lot of work out there assisting Chris Tiedt and as well as Nicole Lewakowski from Public Works who helped out a lot with the communications related to the updates on Facebook and also on the, you know, to the city council.”
