Village of Johnsburg Community Affairs Committee met June 6.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

In attendance: 

Chairman: Mike Fouke 

Staff: Beckey Kijak 

Committee (Events): Adams, Barrett, Hettermann, and Mathiesen 

Committee (Parks): Buff, Diedrich, and Wauchter.

Next Meeting

Minutes from the April 6, 2023 meeting were approved with a motion by Committee Member Buff with a second by Committee Member Diedrich. All present voted aye.

Memorial Day – Chairman Fouke briefed the committee on the new addition of the Memorial Day Parade to the Community Affairs Committee events. He spoke of the parade this year and how it fell on the Village in the final weeks prior. Further discussion was had on better staging, audio and sound adjusting, bringing back the helicopter fly over, and essay contest.

Fishing Derby – Discussion was continued on the 2nd Annual Fishing Derby. The Committee discussed the day of event details of all volunteers to be there at 9:30. Shirts will be sold at $15.00 for a child’s and $20.00 for adults. They requested a port-o-let to be there the day of the event as well as garbage cans. Ms. Kijak noted that she would reach out to the Johnsburg Football team for volunteers as well as secure all of the prizes for the day of the event.

Food Trucks – Chairman Fouke informed the committee that the event has now been moved to the Johnsburg Community Club to better accommodate families and traffic flow. He also advised that there has been a private donor to back entertainment that will be present on these days as well. Reporting that Mr. Winarski has done a great job organizing this weekly event.

Party in the Burg - Ms. Kijak let the committee know that Felix and Fingers was contacted and are available and she was waiting on the invoice as they informed that there were increases due to cost of living. Discussion was had on which food trucks to reach out to and the committee decided to ask Tacos Locos to come back this year and to see if Brothers BBQ was available as a second.

A motion was made by Committee Member Adams to adjourn the meeting at 6:39 with a second by Committee Member Barrett. All present voted aye.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2023 at 5:30pm.
