Susan Hathaway-Altman, a candidate for the 11th District, triumphed in the McHenry County GOPAC Straw Poll on Wednesday. The event, held during the 2024 Primary Election Republican Candidate Forum in Woodstock, saw Hathaway-Altman outpacing her two opponents combined, establishing her as the front-runner.

“I am elated to have earned the support of the overwhelming majority of those present at the McHenry County GOPAC Straw Poll!” Hathaway-Altman said in a press release. “I look forward to earning the same trust and support from all of the residents of the 11th District.”

“I am the right person to stand up for the voices of the men, women and families of the 11th District, who are being ignored by our current Representative, Bill Foster and the special interests of him and his opponent, Qasim Rashid.”

The straw poll took place in McHenry County, a key region within Illinois’ 11th District. Attendees at the Candidate Forum had an opportunity to evaluate all three candidates before casting their votes. Following an intense question-and-answer session led by four notable McHenry County Republican leaders, Hathaway-Altman was announced as the winner amidst applause.

Hathaway-Altman articulated her vision for America.

"I believe in a better America, one where the rights and freedoms of all people are respected and enforced," she said

She emphasized that what is needed is a representative with strong values, exceptional skills and unwavering passion; someone prepared to staunchly defend constitutional rights and freedoms.

She has put forth an extensive agenda aimed at tackling various challenges facing America. Her focus includes addressing the perceived decline in moral, economic and security standings, ensuring that working-class citizens are not overlooked, and promoting financial stability. Hathaway-Altman pledges to be a unifying force, encouraging Americans to overcome differences and work towards a better nation. Her policy proposals on issues such as border crisis, inflation, supply chain concerns, education, taxes, safety and cultural transformation draw from her 30+ years of corporate experience.

Hathaway Altman's website describes her as a resident of Geneva and a "candidate of the people" with over 30 years of supply chain experience. She intends to leverage her business skills as a negotiator and financial leader to devise effective solutions for the 11th district and the country at large. With an emphasis on economic independence, border security, education reform, tax reduction, law enforcement support and cultural unity, she aims to lead America towards revitalization.

The 11th Congressional District covers most parts of McHenry and Kane Counties along with sections of Boone, Lake, DeKalb, DuPage, Cook and Will Counties. It is currently represented by U.S. Rep. Bill Foster (D-Ill.). A map of the district can be found on Foster’s website.
