Evidence presented at trial revealed that on April 28, 2023, around 10:30 p.m., Daniel R. Meyers was driving a motor vehicle with two minors as passengers. A patrol officer from the Lakewood Police Department observed erratic driving, including improper traffic lane usage and speeding, which led to a traffic stop.

During the stop, officers determined that Meyers' driving privileges had been revoked. Further physical observations prompted officers to request Meyers to submit to Field Sobriety Tests, which he refused. Meyers now faces between 4 and 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after being found guilty of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol.

Given his criminal history, which includes nine prior arrests and four convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol, Meyers may be subject to an extended term sentencing ranging from 10 to 30 years. Sentencing is scheduled for August 1, 2024.

McHenry County State’s Attorney Patrick Kenneally acknowledged the efforts of Officer Jake Bardi and Sergeant Kevin Doherty from the Village of Lakewood Police Department in investigating this case. The prosecution was handled by Assistant State’s Attorney Ashur Y. Youash.
