State Senators Don DeWitte and Craig Wilcox are inviting constituents to contribute photos and stories of their veteran family members for a display at the Illinois Capitol. The "Honoring All Who Served" Veterans Day Display will be showcased in the rotunda from November 11 through November 25.

“The ‘Honoring All Who Served’ Veterans Day Display is a fitting tribute to the brave men and women who served our country and all that it stands for,” said DeWitte. “It’s important to never forget the names, faces, and stories of these heroes who sacrificed so much to ensure that we are able to enjoy the freedoms that make our nation great.”

Families are encouraged to submit a photo along with a written story (maximum 250 words) including the name, military branch, and conflict served. Military photos are preferred but not required.

“Our veterans made significant sacrifices to ensure our freedoms endure, and this Wall of Honor is one small way we can express our gratitude,” said Wilcox. “The photos and stories will be on display in the Capitol rotunda for two weeks in November, and I would encourage everyone who has a loved one who served to participate in this special project.”

Submissions should be emailed to veteransday@sgop.ilga.gov by November 8, 2024. They can also be mailed to Veterans Day Wall, 110 D Statehouse, Springfield, IL 62706. For inquiries, call (217) 782-1154.
