FOIA Request Sent to City Of Woodstock Finance Department Regarding Sales Tax Records on October 31, 2024

FOIA Request to City Of Woodstock Finance Department Regarding Sales Tax Records on October 31, 2024. The request, sent by the McHenry Times, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, asked for specific records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.

The records requested include a list of businesses that paid sales tax to the city from January 1, 2023, to October 31, 2024. The fields required in this list are the business name, business type, and the amount of sales tax paid by each business. Additionally, the total amount of sales tax that the city collected within this period was also requested.

As a media organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, we at McHenry Times believe access to these public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

The City Of Woodstock Finance Department has yet to respond or provide any comments regarding this request.
