A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Village of Hebron, Illinois, on October 9, 2024. The request was made by us at McHenry Times, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
In our pursuit of transparency and accountability in public institutions, we sought records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. Specifically, we requested a list of all vendor payments made from January 1, 2024, till October 1, 2024. The information we asked for includes the vendor name, vendor address, and the amount of payment.
As a media organization committed to informing the public about local government activities and expenditures, access to such records is crucial for our work. We believe that this information will contribute significantly to our ongoing efforts to provide transparency and hold public institutions accountable.
We hope that our request will be processed swiftly as it falls within the scope of our professional responsibilities as a news outlet. As such, we have also requested a fee waiver given our role in disseminating information to the public.
We look forward to receiving these records in an electronic format for ease of access and analysis. We are always available for any further clarification or discussion regarding this request.
