FOIA Request Sent to City Of Woodstock Finance Department Regarding Sales Tax Collected from Retailers on October 25, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the City Of Woodstock Finance Department regarding sales tax collected from retailers on October 25, 2024.

The request, submitted by us at McHenry Times, seeks detailed records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. We are specifically interested in obtaining data on sales tax collected from retailers starting from January 1, 2024 until the present date.

The requested information includes a month-by-month comparison of actual sales tax collected versus projected amounts. Additionally, we have asked for data on the number of active retail locations paying sales tax each month.

Furthermore, we have requested for the names of each retailer and their gross retail sales reported monthly.

As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We eagerly await the response from the City Of Woodstock Finance Department and will continue our pursuit of truth and transparency in local government affairs.
