The legislative office of State Senator Craig Wilcox, representing McHenry, will serve as a collection point for the 2024 Toys for Tots campaign organized by the U.S. Marine Corps. New and unwrapped toys suitable for children of all ages are being collected until Thursday, December 5. The toys will be picked up on Friday, December 6.
Senator Wilcox’s District Office is located at 209 North Benton Street in Woodstock and will be open for collections from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
“Every child, regardless of their family’s financial situation, should have a gift to open over the holidays, and Toys for Tots has provided toys and other gifts to kids since 1947,” stated Wilcox. “The annual toy collection campaign is vital to the organization’s mission, and I am pleased to have my office on the historic Woodstock Square serve as a collection point.”
Local campaigns are conducted annually in more than 800 communities across all states. A Marine or member of a Marine Corps League Detachment or local community organization typically coordinates each community's efforts. Once collected from various drop-off locations, these coordinators work with local social welfare agencies, church groups, and other community organizations to distribute toys to children who might otherwise not receive gifts during the holiday season.
“We are entering the season of Thanksgiving, and I would encourage all people who enjoy bountiful blessings to give back through the Toys for Tots campaign,” Wilcox added. “Let’s all help put smiles on children’s faces this holiday season.”
