State Representative Joe Sosnowski acknowledged the election results in a November 6 Facebook post, stating, "Now that the election has concluded and voters have made their voices heard, it is time to get back to work."
"Thanks for the opportunity to continue to serve you in the IL General Assembly," said Sosnowski, according to Facebook. "Now that the election has concluded and voters have made their voices heard, it is time to get back to work. As a country we need to stop the harsh political rhetoric and personal attacks that we see from news sources, on social media, and in commercials. These tactics marginalize the American public."
According to Ballotpedia, official results are not yet available from the Secretary of State’s office. However, they report that Sosnowski, the incumbent Republican, received 33,075 votes or 61.9% of total votes. His challenger, Democrat Peter Janko, received 20,341 votes or 38.1% of the total 53,416 votes cast for this race. Sosnowski ran an uncontested race in the March 2024 Republican primary.

Sosnowski’s statement continued in his Facebook post: "We have a lot of issues to tackle to make Illinois a more affordable place to live, work, start a business, get a good education, and retire with financial security. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the people of the 69th District in the Illinois House of Representatives for the next two years. I congratulate all the winners of local elections in Winnebago, Boone, and McHenry Counties. We will work together to find solutions to the challenges families in our community are dealing with," wrote Sosnowski.
Sosnowski has represented Illinois since he was elected to the Illinois General Assembly in 2010. He now represents the 69th District. His political career began with a stint on the DeKalb City Council before he moved to Rockford and was elected as First Ward Alderman from 2005-2010. He is a graduate of Northern Illinois University.
