Residents of the 32nd District showed strong support for the Toys for Tots campaign, according to Senator Craig Wilcox. His legislative office served as a drop-off location, and donations were collected by U.S. Marine Corps representatives. "I’m sure you would agree that every child, regardless of their family’s financial situation, should have a gift to open over the holidays," Wilcox said. The program began in 1947 and has since expanded nationwide.

Wilcox also encouraged constituents to shop locally during the holiday season, emphasizing the economic benefits. "When you shop locally, you are infusing money right back into your community," he stated. Small businesses constitute 99% of all U.S. businesses and significantly contribute to the GDP.

In light of winter conditions, Wilcox advised residents to check road conditions before traveling and recommended using the Illinois Winter Conditions map. He also suggested having an emergency car kit ready.

For those decorating for the holidays, Wilcox shared energy-saving tips like using LED lights and smart plugs. "By following these tips, you can keep the season merry, bright, and budget-friendly," he noted.

A recent Tax Foundation study ranked Illinois 37th in tax competitiveness due to its complex tax system. The state’s high taxes have been linked to Governor Pritzker's policies. Wyoming, South Dakota, and Alaska topped the rankings with simpler tax systems.

The Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) reminded consumers that its winter weather rule is in effect until March 31. This rule prevents utility disconnections for eligible customers during cold months. Households struggling with utility bills are urged to apply for assistance through LIHEAP or other programs.

Wilcox provided resources for further guidance on utility issues and invited residents to contact his office for assistance.
