State Senator Craig Wilcox has initiated his annual "Valentines for Seniors" card drive, aiming to bring joy to seniors in the 32nd Senate District. The initiative invites students from schools, church groups, scouting organizations, and other community groups to create homemade cards and drawings. These will be delivered to assisted living centers, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities during Valentine's week.
"This heartwarming project grows in popularity every year and I cannot wait to see how many cards and drawings we receive from the generous people of the 32nd District this year," said Wilcox. "Last year we delivered thousands of cards and drawings to appreciative seniors, and I hope to deliver even more well-wishes this year."
Participants can drop off or mail their contributions until February 7 at Senator Wilcox's Woodstock office between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM on weekdays. Those unable to visit during these hours can call (815) 455-6330 for alternative arrangements.
Senator Wilcox emphasized the importance of the initiative by stating, "Loneliness can be a real issue for the elderly, so it’s nice to bring them some joy so they know we’re thinking of them."
