State Senator Craig Wilcox has announced that the City of Woodstock will receive a grant from the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) amounting to $2,523,264. This funding is aimed at enhancing streetscape features along Route 47. The grants are distributed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

A total of 66 projects across the state have been awarded ITEP funding. These funds are intended for various community improvement initiatives such as bike and pedestrian paths, sidewalks, and streetscape beautification.

Senator Wilcox expressed satisfaction with the allocation: “I am always pleased when state dollars come back to the 32nd District,” he said. “These funds will be put to good use as the City of Woodstock works with IDOT to improve intersections and make the community more visually appealing for motorists and pedestrians.”

The grant will specifically fund several enhancements in Woodstock, including colored, stamped-concrete crosswalks at roundabouts and gateway intersections; landscaping with turf grass, trees, and shrubs in center medians; decorative lighting at roundabouts; and streetlights along a pedestrian/bike path. These improvements will extend along IL Route 47 from U.S. Route 14 to IL Route 120.

Wilcox noted that there were 233 applications for ITEP funding this year, with a total of $139.2 million allocated across all approved projects.
