The Woodstock City Council is encouraging any interested McHenry County residents to apply for a spot on the city's newly formed Old Courthouse Advisory Commission.
Woodstock and McHenry County residents familiar with the Historic Woodstock Square, the Old Courthouse and Sheriff’s House buildings and the redevelopment process to date are encouraged to apply.
The commission was created to help preserve the Old Courthouse and Sheriff's House complex by developing a financially sustainable plan for managing the buildings. The courthouse in Woodstock was built in 1857 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, along with Sheriff's House.
The commission will be comprised of eight members and a chairman, who will be selected by Woodstock MayorBrian Sager with City Council approval. At least five of the members must live in Woodstock. Commissioner will serve three-year terms and be subject to reappointment.
