Restoration effort continues at Woodstock's Ryder's Woods

Parks

The city of Woodstock said Ryder’s Woods will soon be restored through the efforts of The Land Conservancy (TLC) and the city and a grant from the McHenry County Community Foundation.

The Woodstock Public Works Department is working to remove waste concrete slabs at the park. Garbage, foliage and trees have been removed, and residents had raised concern about the area.

Woodstock Public Works Director Jeff Van Landuyt has sent a letter out notifying residents of the cleanup efforts. He is also planning a meeting with residents at 7 p.m. Dec. 9, in the Woodstock Public Library to inform residents of the importance of TLC’s dedication to conservation, which includes neighbors and wildlife.

Once the cleanup is finished, a trail and a new entrance will be added that will connect Peace Park with Ryder’s Woods. The new entrance will have a kiosk devoted to education and a wildflower learning garden.
