The village of Algonquin said Monday it has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement from the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Center for Performance Analytics.
Algonquin is one of five jurisdictions to receive the honor this year.
Jurisdictions get the award after an assessment of the local government’s performance management program. The assessment compares a local government against its peers and looks at its performance over the course of a period of time.
“It’s a great accomplishment to be recognized as a leader in this area,” Village President John Schmitt, said. “Performance management helps guide village operations to successfully complete policy goals set by the village board and further ensures we are providing services efficiently and effectively.”
The village of Algonquin was found to have a performance management program that prioritized programming, aided in cost reduction and improved quality. The goal of the system is to improve results across the board.
“The certificate program recognizes the principles of performance management,” ICMA Director of Performance Initiatives Randall Reid said. “Jurisdictions meeting the qualifications have demonstrated leadership in continuous improvement and community engagement, and they serve as examples for other governments to follow.”
