Cary Village Administrator Christopher Clark recently discussed the benefits of establishing a village economic development task force with the Village Board.
The task force would involve three to five business owners, or representatives, from the community, Clark told the board at its Nov. 3 meeting. The goal would be to have these community members integrated in the decision-making process for businesses in Cary. Clark said the task force would be similar to the economic development commission in Grayslake, which has been operating for several years.
Village Trustee Kimberly Covelli said she supported having such a task force but wanted further research regarding Grayslake's commission.
Village Trustee Jeffery Kraus said Cary previously had an economic development commission and requested to see meeting minutes from 2004, which was the year the commission was dissolved.
Village Trustee Duane Dudek expressed his support for the creation of the task force. However, he wanted to know how viable it was to have task force members willing and able to make the commitment, as well as task force members that were in support of the business community in Cary.
