The Lake in the Hills Planning and Zoning Commission discussed amendments to the village zoning ordinance Monday.
The proposed amendments are in relation to restrictions on non-sales tax generating uses within commercial areas of the village.
The agenda packet notes that the commission has discussed the possibility of an overlay zoning district in order to provide further restrictions on non-generating uses of the space. The overlay was initially rejected in May 2013.
In order to restrict non-retail uses, the village would need to develop a zoning mechanism that would not allow non-retail usage or modify existing zoning criteria for conditional uses that are not generating sales tax. These amendments would affect B-2 and B-3 zoning districts.
