The Woodstock City Council will be discussing the purchase of two patrol vehicles and other equipment for the Police Department at its meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The Police Department has requested the purchase of two Ford Interceptor police vehicles and eight radios and associated accessories. The police department was to replace six radios for a total of $18,000 within the 2015 and 2016 budget. Police Chief Robert Lowen, in a letter to City Manager Roscoe Stelford, said a sales promotion would allow the city to purchase eight radios with accessories for a total of $18,268 through Motorola. The radios would be purchased through Chicago Communications.
The purchase of two vehicles is part of the replacement system the police department utilizes on a five-year alternation system. The vehicles would cost $26,574 each. Within the budget for 2015 and 2016, $74,000 was approved for replacing police vehicles. Should this motion be approved, Lowen said the new vehicles will be retrofitted with equipment from older vehicles.
The council will also consider a loan agreement between the city and Chamber of Commerce.
