Marengo City Council approved a set of bills and payments during its meeting earlier this month.

Among these items was a correction that would abate levied taxes for 2015 and allow the city to make payments on principal balances and interest in the following areas: the General Obligation Refunding Bonds series 2005, General Obligation Bonds series 2014 and Taxable General Obligation Bonds series 2010. Payments were made in the amounts of $2.74 million, $4.975 million and $1.5 million, respectively.

This measure was approved unanimously by the council members. This served as part of the evening’s consent agenda. The first portion of this was the approval of meeting minutes from the council meeting that took place on Monday, Dec. 14.

The meeting notes indicate that a public hearing was initiated regarding an annexation agreement between the city and Jack Pease. This agreement is within the finalization process, but it would involve 80 acres of land south of the Meyer Road and Pleasant Grove Road intersection.

The remaining portion of this hearing was continued at the council’s meeting on Jan. 25.

The meeting adjourned at approximately 7:31 p.m. on Jan. 11 of this year.
