Woodstock Mayor Brian Sager and other city officials recently toured the Catalent plant in Woodstock.
Catalent, which operates 33 plants around the world like the one in Woodstock, specializes in packaging pharmaceutical materials that are often used in ophthalmic and respiratory therapies and drugs. The company also operates in drug discovery, health products and the delivery of certain medicines.
“We are very pleased to see the level of investment that Catalent is making in our community,” Sager said. “This includes not only improvements to their building but their commitment to the employees.”
The plant is currently undergoing an expansion project in order to build a new entrance at the facility and to take enhancements to the aesthetics of the exterior of the building.
The Woodstock city manager’s newsletter for Jan. 29 said the facility is one of the larger employers in the city with a staff of approximately 600 people.
Officials that toured the facility included Councilman Joe Starzynski, Economic Development Coordinator Krista Coltrin, City Manager Roscoe Stelford, Economic Development Director Garrett Anderson and Councilman R.B. Thompson.
