The Woodstock Cultural and Social Awareness Commission and the Environmental Commission will hold a joint meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday to discuss implementing reusable bag measures in the city.
This meeting will be focusing on a proclamation that designating 2016 as the year of reusable bags. The commissions will also review research information and surveys that have been conducted within the community and among the city’s retailers and studies on other communities that have implemented similar measures.
An earlier McHenry Times said Woodstock Mayor Brian Sager has issued his support for a bagless community and has requested it to be considered for Woodstock,
This meeting will also consist of updates regarding education plans for both community members and retail outlets. There will also be information relating to sponsorships in relation to community bags.
The meeting's agenda states that McHenry County Defenders have drafted sample ordinances that are scheduled to be reviewed at this meeting as well.
