Publicmeeting

Cary Board of Zoning, Planning and Appeals will hold a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Cary Board of Zoning, Planning and Appeals will hold a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Cary Board of Zoning, Planning and Appeals will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Holiday Inn at 800 S. Illinois Route 31 in Crystal Lake to discuss a conditional use permit request by Meyer Material Company to extend mining operations on its property near state Route 31 and Klasen Road.

The Northwest Herald reported that the company requested a two-year extension to carry out mining activities in Cary in December. The article said the current mining operation deadline is June 1. The deadline for mining would be in June 2018 should the extension be approved.

The Cary Village Board will have the final authority to approve or reject zoning panel's recommendation regarding the extension.

Cary Village Administrator Chris Clark told the Northwest Herald that should the request be approved, the village may be able to have the company extend work that would allow a planned lake to be used for recreational purposes.
