Councilman Mark Saladin said he was disappointed with the amount of time the it was taking for the windows for the jailhouse to be completed. He also asked if there was any recourse that could be taken to complete the project in a quicker fashion. The city aims to use windows that are historically accurate with the building.
The window provider that is currently tasked with supplying the windows is the only company that could be found that provides the necessary pieces within the budgeted costs. It was also noted that the company tends to work with large scale orders. The meeting minutes also state that the supplier had not initially wished to be considered for this order and only accepted the contract following the city’s contractor convincing the company otherwise.
Considering the delays, the project is expected to be completed by Memorial Day. Related to this project was a discussion regarding progress at the historic sheriff’s house which included completed window installation. It was also noted that hardware will need to be installed to meet weatherproofing needs.
