Republican candidate for state representative Allen Skillicorn claimed Monday that an Algonquin Township trustee allegedly committed voter fraud in support of Dan Wilbrandt.
Skillicorn said Melissa Sanchez had moved out of the 66th House District, but he alleged she cast vote in the primary using her former address. There are currently no records of an official vote being cast.
Skillicorn faces Wilbrandt and Carolyn Schofield in the primary election for the 66th District nomination for the Republican Party.
Skillicorn said Sanchez offered an endorsement of Wilbrandt on a campaign mailer.
“Trustee Sanchez should vote where she lives.” Skillicorn said. “Melissa Sanchez is a public official who worked as an insider for the House Republicans at our state’s capital. She knows exactly what she’s doing when she casts an illegal vote for my opponent, Dan Wilbrandt.”
Skillicorn said he had made a visit to Sanchez’s former residence while campaigning at the end of 2015 and discovered a new resident that reported that Sanchez had moved from the residence.
