Crystal Lake will hold a budget workshop Tuesday.
The City of Crystal Lake City Council will be holding a workshop for the development of the city budget on March 22.
This workshop is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers in City Hall.
The budget for this past year was finalized on April 24, 2015, after it had been filed with the McHenry County Clerk. Prior to this, the city worked on developing the annual budget through public hearings, sessions and workshops to further its development. During the previous budget process, a workshop was held on March 31 following the presentation of a proposed budget.
The annual budget also offers insight into the economic environment within the city and how that it is affected by external forces. This includes the challenges and opportunities that are anticipated by the city government. For the 2015 and 2016 fiscal year, it was noted that a large challenge was the budget crisis that faced the state. At the time, it was reported that this could impact the amount of state funding available to local governments.
An earlier McHenry Times article states that Crystal Lake has been recognized for its management of finances by the Government Finance Officers Association.
