The village of Algonquin announced its spring fire hydrant flushing schedule this week.
Flushing will begin April 18 and will be staggered throughout the village beginning in the area east of village limits. Beginning on April 25. flushing will begin to the north of Edgewood Drive and Filip Road, west of the Fox River and East of Hanson Road. The announcement states that this section will finish flushing activity on April 29.
The area south of Filip and Algonquin roads, north of Country Line Road and west of Hanson Road will begin its flushing on May 2 and is scheduled to finish on May 6.
Beginning on May 9, hydrant flushing will take place between Algonquin Road and Country Line Road on and between Randall Road and Hanson Road.
Between May 16 and 20, the area between the western village limits and Square Barn Road will be flushed. This work will finish in the areas between Randall and Square Barn Roads and south of Algonquin Road. This area’s flushing will begin on May 23 and will run until June 3 on working days.
The village said that hydrant flushing takes place twice a year and it allows fresh water to move through the hydrant system and to test the individual units. Dates listed may change due to weather conditions.
