The Harvard Events Committee approved a logo for the city's first balloon festival at its March 14 meeting.
The city’s website states that the Harvard Balloon Fest will be taking place Sept. 2- 4 at Milky Way Park.
The city held a logo design contest that resulted in several entries. The Harvard Events Facebook page announced that Luke Shirley’s entry was the one chosen by the Events Committee. The contest announcement states that Shirley will be receiving a polo shirt from the event and will be granted a free tethered balloon ride at the fest.
Meeting minutes from a Nov. 24 City Council meeting indicate the council approved an agreement with the Geneva Balloon Company for the fest.
The Events Committee also discussed a mud volleyball tournament that will be held on Aug. 16.
