The McHenry Community College volleyball team won five of its six matches ahead of the Labor Day weekend, according to mchenry.edu.
The Scots beat the College of Lake County 3-0 in MCC's first Illinois Skyway Conference home match of the season on Aug. 30, winning 25-15, 25-18 and 25-12.
According to information tweeted by MCC coach Kyle McCall, Kayli Trausch led the Scots with 15 kills with Kyla Fitzsimmons adding nine kills. Payton Traff had 39 assists and Sarah Adams had 29 digs.
MCC opened the season No. 16 in the Division II poll. McCall also tweeted that two of the Scots' first five wins came over teams that appeared in preseason polls. On Aug. 27, MCC claimed a 3-1 win over Illinois Central, which was No. 11 in the National Junior College Athletics Association Division II preseason poll. Earlier that day, MCC notched a 3-1 win over Kaskaskia, which received votes in the NJCAA Division I poll.
The next home action for MCC is at 6 p.m. Sept. 8, when the Scots host Waubonsee, which was No. 13 in the Division II poll.
