State Representative Steve Reick (R-Cary) is organizing a free prescription drug drop-off event in Cary, Illinois. The event will take place on Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cary Municipal Center located at 755 Georgetown Drive.
The initiative is being held in partnership with the Cary Police Department and aims to give residents an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted or expired prescription medications. According to Rep. Reick, "This is a simple way for residents to clear out their medicine cabinets and help keep our communities safe. Unused prescriptions can too easily fall into the wrong hands or contaminate our water systems when disposed of improperly. I’m grateful to the Cary Police Department for partnering with us to provide this valuable community service."
The program operates in coordination with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and follows procedures for proper and environmentally safe disposal of prescription drugs. Organizers note that needles, liquids, and illicit drugs will not be accepted during the event.
Rep. Reick has represented Illinois’ 63rd House District since his election in 2017, succeeding Jack D. Franks as state representative. For additional information about the event, residents can contact Rep. Reick’s district office at (815) 880-5340.
